Animated Short
VIST 206 – Visual Studies Studio I

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors formed mixed teams of 5, and spent the entire semester
working on a single 3D animated short. The animation had to tell a story using one or more
characters in 30 seconds or less, and include at least one 3D special effect.

Students explored a topic or theme of their choice through digital photography. They
submitted their 5-7 best images with a paragraph describing their topic and approach.
Themes shown above include “twins”, “a Japanese tea ceremony”, and “chemical reactions”.

Juniors studying in Germany were asked to address the growing problem of dementia.
They pitched ideas to one another, formed their own teams, and executed their projects
over the course of the semester. Projects inculded games deigned for patients and artwork
inspired by the testimony of caregivers.
